Checking out as a guest

  • Updated

Can I order on Just Eat without creating an account?

Absolutely, all you need to do is check out as a guest.

We’ll still need to know a few details about you, such as your email address, delivery address and mobile number. Otherwise, we won’t be able to send you updates or know where to deliver your order. However, there’s no need to create an account or log in.

What does ‘checkout as a guest’ mean when I’m ordering?

Checking out as a guest means you can place an order with us, without having to create an account or log in. We’ll only ask for a few personal details (such as your delivery address and contact number) so we can send you updates and deliver your order to the right place.

What details will a restaurant or store see if I check out as a guest?

Just the essentials. They’ll see your name and delivery address, so they know where to deliver your order. Your mobile number will be masked from the restaurant or store, meaning they can call or text you if there’s an issue with your order, but they won’t be shown your actual number. Also, no payment details will be shared with them.

I checked out as a guest, but it looks like I have an account – what’s going on?

Although you’re checking out as a guest, you can use a Just Eat guest account like a full account – but only on the device and browser that placed the order on. This makes it easier for you to track your order and get help if needed. It also means your guest order history will be saved.

If you have an account but checked out as a guest anyway, the only orders that'll show are your guest account orders; the orders you placed through your Just Eat account won't be included. As soon as you log out or clear your internet browsing history, your order history will disappear, and you’ll no longer appear to be logged in.

Why can I see my order history, despite checking out as a guest?

The guest account has the same features as a full account, so long as you use it on the same device you placed your order on. This is so you can keep up-to-date with your order and ask for help if you need it. Plus, your order history will be saved on a guest account, until you log out or clear your internet browsing history.

Why can’t I pay with cash when I check out as a guest?

Sorry about that, we don't accept cash payments on guest accounts as this helps prevent fraudulent activity, such as fake order placements. You can still pay with a debit card, credit card and PayPal (or Apple Pay and Google Pay where supported). If you’d still like to pay with cash, you’ll need to create a Just Eat account and find a place that accepts this payment method.

Why should I create a Just Eat account?

A range of benefits come with opening a Just Eat account. Firstly, your order history will be saved across any device that you order from, so you’ll always be able to find that brilliant Thai place you ordered from the other month. Just bear in mind that your guest order history won’t be transferred to any Just Eat account that you create.

We also recommend highly-rated places, dishes, or items you might like to try, and you’ll receive special members-only discounts and exclusive email offers. Plus, you’ll be the first to hear about the new places joining Just Eat near you.

With a full account, you can save your payment card details to speed up the ordering process, and you'll have the option to pay for your order in cash with many places.

Why wasn’t my guest account order history transferred to my new Just Eat account?

When you create an account, it’s brand new. Even if you give us the same email address you used when you checked out as a guest, we can’t transfer those order details from one account to another.

Why can't I see the account credit I've received?

If we added an account credit to your guest account because there was a problem with your order, you’ll only be able to apply this to your new order when using the same device you made that order on (e.g., your phone or laptop). If you log out or clear your browser data in the meantime, your order details will be lost, along with your account credit.

Why can I only see my account credit on one device?

If you were given account credit because there was an issue with your order, you’d only be able to use it when you order using the same account and device (e.g., smartphone) that you used last time. If you log out or clear your browser data in the meantime, your order details will be lost, along with your account credit.

I didn't spend all of my gift card credit on my first order, why can’t I find my unused balance now?

This is probably because you redeemed your gift card on a guest account, which cannot store unused credit.

So you don't lose any account credit in future, it’s best to create a Just Eat account rather than using a guest account.
